On Vday Derick and I both had school until noon and then I worked 12-6 and he worked 5-10. That schedule doesn't exactly look ideal, but I honestly did not have a single complaint about the day. It was perfect.
I managed to wake up early enough to surprise Derick with breakfast in bed before he got up to get ready for his 7:30 class.
I also presented him with his gift, which was a homemade ABC book of reasons why I love him. The idea originally came from Sunday School. A few weeks ago the teacher told us to take out a scrap piece of paper and write the alphabet in a row along the side. She then told us to write something we love about our spouse that started with each letter. We read the list to each other later in the week, and it was so sweet. I decided I wanted to make him something a little more presentable that wasn't on a measly scrap of paper that he could keep for good. It was a success.
Later in the afternoon a friend of Derick's came in to my work and asked if he could plug his iPod into the sound system. I was a little hesitant.. I don't do well with being in the spot light and I could tell something was going to come out of this, but I stepped aside and let him do it. Over the speaker comes an old catchy Love song, right on cue in walks Derick bearing a vase of a dozen roses and chocolate covered strawberries. He set them down and forced me to dance with him. Luckily there weren't any customers in the store at the time, but I dealt with the slight embarrassment of my co-workers watching. It was ok though, because the butterflies were definitely present. He is adorable.
Derick was really bummed about going to work, and he had sent me a text complaining about how everything was going wrong once he had gotten there. I felt awful that he was having such a crummy night but I sent him a text reassuring him that the night would get better. We are a one car family right now so when Derick got off work he called me asking me to come pick him up. I told him I was already there and to come find me. What he wasn't expecting was to find the car empty with a box of chocolates on the seat, and a note telling him that a surprise was waiting for him and to come home. (I had dropped the car off and walked home, we only live a block away from his work). He got home and found another note on the door to come inside and follow the trail. The trail of rose petals led him upstairs to a candle lit dinner, surrounded by more rose petals. It couldn't have been more of a romantic setting, or a better way to end the day.

I'm sad that I didn't get better pictures of how pretty our room looked but Derick got off work half an hour earlier than expected so I didn't have time.[/caption]Since we both worked all day Derick said our real valentines day is going to be on Saturday. I can't wait to see what he has planned for me!
