Derick and I try to have one date night a week. Only one? Ya it might not sound that difficult, but believe me-- we are lucky to get just the one. I can't believe how busy we both are. This past week we did a little shopping. Derick really likes to spoil me when he gets the chance. He bought me a scarf, a new phone case, and pants.
After we got our shop on we went and got some apple spice and drove up the canyon to have a picnic. This is the most beautiful time of year. We ate our food right by a river on a doc and looked at all of the amazing colors on the trees. It was a little chilly so we even had a great excuse to cuddle up a bit :)
This past weekend was great! The one and only complaint I have is about USU losing to BYU.
It really put a damper on my night. Luckily, the next morning was general conference. Of course that boosted up my spirits real quick. I had to work for the saturday morning session but thanks to social networking I found out the big new about the missionary age changing real quick. I got the biggest chills when I found out. This really is a sign of the times. What a revelation it is to make sure there are as many missionaries out there as possible. There will be so many people out there learning about the gospel now. It is amazing. I love that there will be more sister missionaries out there, and that all the young men will be able to leave directly after high school. I would have given anything to be able to serve a mission while Derick was on his. I still would have been leaving a year after him, and getting home half a year after, but that would have been the neatest experience. I know everything happens for a reason, and that this missionary age requirement changed at the time it was supposed to. Heavenly Father really knows what he is doing up there.
The next morning, bright and early, Derick and I left for the morning session of conference with my sister, her husband, and my dad. I feel extremely blessed at the thought that this is my 4th time attending General Conference live. There are very many people out there who would sacrifice everything they have to be able to experience such an amazing opportunity.
This was my favorite time going so far because I had Derick right by my side. I attended General Conference twice while Derick was on his mission, and it was during those 2 times I felt the closest to him. It was amazing to know we were both watching the exact same thing at the exact same time, and that as he was watching it on TV I was sitting inside the actual building. Although I felt close to him during those 2 times, I couldn't help but think of how much better it would be if we actually were close to each other and holding hands, sitting side by side. This time I actually got to do that.
Later in the day the Cox family got together for family pictures! It was a belated mother's day gift for Jana (Derick's mom) I am glad we finally got around to doing it!
Ok, I am a little very obsessed with my twin nieces! Cutest babies in the world. I only have pictures with Olivia posted, but Brooklyn is just as cute. I can't believe how big they are getting either. They are both on the verge of crawling, and I wouldn't be surprised if Olivia started walking before she crawled. She is very determined. I love their big brother just as much. I am such a proud auntie. :)
A few days ago I got together with my mother in-law and sister in-law and we made a Halloween craft. It has gotten me very into the crafting mood so now I am just searching for time to make more! I think I will make at least one per holiday. That is my goal anyway.. Derick and I don't have any holiday decorations so hopefully in a few years all of my crafts will start adding up!
Happy October!
