It was hard for us to decide on a place to go for our honeymoon. We really wanted to go on a cruise, but none of our parents felt good about us going to Mexico because of all the bad things going on there, and if we went on a Bahama cruise or something of the sort we would be there right in the midst of hurricane season. There was no way of predicting what the weather would be like after our wedding, so we decided to play it safe and not go anywhere in the south- east for a cruise. We didn't have passports, and not enough time to get one, so we had to stay in the country. The main problem with staying in the country, and flying somewhere was that neither one of us are old enough to rent a car once we got to our location. We didn't like the thought of having to rely on public transportation to get from place to place. So in the end we concluded we would have to go somewhere close enough that we could drive, but far enough away that we actually felt like we were on vacation. We decided on St. George. We have both been there numerous times, but this time takes the prize for best trip. We stayed in a luxurious condo, with an amazing pool that we may have spent a large portion of our days in. I miss it. I never knew I could have so much fun in st. george, but we ended up having to take things off of our agenda because we ran out of time.
I really love my home, but I wish I could go back to this condo where by the push of a 'Hello' button I could turn on all the lights, the fireplace, and open the shades; and by the push of a 'goodbye' button I could turn off all lights, tv, fireplace, and close the shades. I miss having a bathtub the size of a hot tub. I miss having a garage, and an amazing view from my backyard patio. I know I was only there for 5 days, but in those 5 days I got pretty attached to this place.
The best part yet was the fact it was Derick and I's first week together as a married couple. It was weird how it wasn't weird at all that we were on a trip completely by ourselves and it felt 100% normal. I always imagined getting married would be a huge transition, but I was wrong. For the first time in 4 years we were able to spend literally every single second together for longer than a day. The first time we weren't together once we got home was such a weird feeling. Going back to work was harder than I had anticipated. I just wanted to be spending time with him like I had so easily gotten used to.
We spent our time touring the beautiful canyons surrounding us, even having a picnic in one.
-Laying on a sand dune, gazing at the stars
-Going to see Hairspray at Tuacahn. Of course, it was amazing. Tuacahn never disappoints.
-Swimming for hours a day
-Eating way too much junk food.
-Watching too many movies
-Getting lost on scary dirt roads
and
-Enjoying literally every single second of it.
Thank you so much to Derick's dad who so willingly paid for our honeymoon. It was more than we could have ever hoped for.
These were all over the place. My favorite one was right next to the bed. Ready to go to sleep? Just push the 'Goodnight' button and it will take care of literally everything for you. Lights, TV, shades, you name it. I'm serious.. the button really did say 'Goodnight'
We had a garage. We don't even have a garage at our home now. I miss it.
Our Driveway
This was our cute front porch.
Laying out by the pool.
Derick disappeared for a good 30 minutes. When he came back he was all pampered looking. Turns out he had been blow drying his hair, brushing his teeth, clipping his finger nails, cleaning out his ears, and the list goes on... all in the mens locker room.
Hairspray!
Our back patio
We spent our Sunday at the St. George temple
Yes, this was our backyard.
Our last sun set
I forgot to mention one thing.
This was our pool.
Look familiar?
Why, yes, we Did stay at the place High School Musical 2 was filmed! hahah. I spent the whole week before our wedding joking around with my bridesmaids about how Derick and I were going on a HighSchool Musical tour for our honeymoon. Our first stop was going to be at East High on our way down. Ha, Ok! We did not in fact have a high school musical tour, but I did annoy Derick a little with my random pointing and calling out the scene that was set in the exact location.
This one was my favorite. " Oh my gosh! That is where Troy and Gabriella broke up! That is soooo sad!!"
I can assure you, I am not a HM nerd. I just liked doing it to get a reaction out of Derick:) I did, however, force him to watch the movie with me when we got home so we could reminisce a little. He didn't find it as exciting as I did.
