Our Mini Vacation
At first when we found out when Derick's brother, Tyler, was getting married we were a little stressed. Derick was crunching numbers on the daily, weeks before we went out for the summer, to figure out exactly how many sales he needed to get a day to reach his goal, and flying home for 2 days was definitely going to set him back a little. But not long after we left for the summer we were counting down the days to go back home. We were so excited, and we felt like July 19th couldn't get here any sooner. But come it did, and there it went. We had an absolute blast. I never knew we could fit in so many things in such a short amount of time.
Friday:
We woke up bright and early to catch our flight-- random fact, this was Derick and I's first time ever flying together. Maybe not a big deal, but I thought it was exciting:)
We got to Logan a little after noon, and we hugged the faces off of our nephew and nieces. Jack was SO excited to see us. He was standing in the yard when we pulled up, and he was shaking all over with this biggest smile on his face. Before I even made it out of the car all the way he yelled, "Caitlin! Watch me!" and he hurried and jumped on his bike to show how he could ride with no training wheels. I had to chase him down to get a hug. Brook and Olivia decided the right time to start walking would be only a few days after Derick and I left for the summer. That is what made it feel like we had been gone for forever. Those babies are no longer babies, but toddlers! It makes my heart hurt a little. Janell dyed my hair while Derick went off to throw Tyler his Bachelor party at Bear Lake. After my hair was done I went shopping with Janell and Jana for an outfit for the wedding. I of course had to have Cafe Rio for dinner seeing as it is only in Utah and I was having withdrawals. Then we went to go have a good time at the Hyde Park city days. This is a very busy time for the Cox family seeing as my father in-law is the Mayor. Hyde Park days and a wedding all in the same weekend calls for ALOT of busy bees. The city celebration did not disappoint. The fireworks show made up for our mediocre 4th of July show in Minnesota, and I got to spend lots of time with my in-laws and I convinced my sister, Olivia, to come-- Who had just gotten home from running with the Bulls in Spain that very day. She must have been exhausted but I loved seeing her and Jake! We ended the night by going home and finding chocolates on our pillows. ha ha Jana must have been really excited to have us there!
Saturday:
We woke up to a wonderful homemade waffle breakfast, and then we hurried off to the Hyde Park parade. After the parade Derick and I had a little time to kill, so we hopped on his mom's moped that tops out at 20 mph and drove all the way to Benson to surprise McKell. We passed by my grandma's house on the way and saw her outside so we stopped and talked, and talked. She likes to talk. We were standing out there talking when out runs Arielle from my parents house, scolding me for not telling her we were there! I loved seeing so many people. We finally made it up the street to Mckell, where she was doing some farm work. She let Derick drive the tractor for a little and that was probably the highlight of his summer. We then had to hurry and rush home (at 20mph) to get ready for the wedding. The wedding was beautiful. Jess put together all the decorations herself, and it only made me wish I could get married again..to the same guy of course, just to plan the wedding, and relive the day. It was a great night spent with family, and I finally got to see my parents who had gotten home from a mini vacation earlier in the day. Can I just say, I love family more than anything in this world?
Sunday:
Sunday came to soon. We spent the morning at Derick's parents, then went to my parents to spend time with my family before we had to leave. Mid afternoon it was time to get going. I definitely didn't welcome Minnesota with open arms when we got back, but it did make the sting a little better knowing we wouldn't be gone for as long as last time. Until next time, Utah.
